As a small business, you know you need to promote your products and services to the masses. You need to get word out so potential customers know that you exist. You see your competitors on TV and hear them on the radio, so you check into rates and almost fall off your chair when you hear how expensive they are. You realize that you can only afford a few spots per month with your budget. Does that make any sense? Probably not. What now? Give up? Hope and pray that people find your website or front door? Don’t give up! There are alternatives…and some good ones!
Two words. Google. Facebook. If utilized correctly, both platforms can produce phenomenal results without breaking the bank. Generally, Google is our top recommendation. For budgets as small as a few hundred dollars a month, Google can immediately start to drive traffic. The most incredible thing about Google advertising is that if nobody clicks on your ad, you don’t pay. That’s the holy grail for advertisers…guaranteed results!
Google, however can be a bit limiting. With Google, your ads will only show up if people are searching for keywords and phrases related to your business. Facebook is a good complement to Google in that you can advertise to people who may be a perfect fit for your product or service but may not be actively searching for it. Facebook is also a fantastic way to advertise for events. Does your business have events that could use better attendance? Creating and promoting (don’t click the boost button!) events can really help to create awareness and ultimately bring more people through the door.
So…what are you waiting for? Your potential customers are out there. And odds are they are using either Google or Facebook…or both!
